the spring i removed from my ar measured up as a 80n/mm.
Knackered - where did you find the spec of 7.5?
i weigh 15 stone if full enduro gear, and use a 105 n/mm spring to get the correct loaded and unloaded sag.
if you have 100 race sag (roughly correct, well done!) but no static sag - this means too soft a spring with too much preload.
as a general rule use 2-15mm preload to achive correct static and race sag.
Jon - how much preload are you using to achive 100 race sag? i assume a lot more than 15mm.
if you tell me all of the measurments from the bike, i could help calculate correct spring rate.

i have a 90 n / mm spring that will fit an ar shock you can try if you want?
its a ktech spring to fit a ktm, 250mm long and 63mm internal diameter (i think).
it retails for £80 new, i am open to offers.
I bought it new, fitted it to my ar, set the sag, realised it was still to soft and removed it.

There are also springs advertised on Rinkya and elsewhere that take the original rate of 7.5 upto ? (usually 9.0).

i could be that the standard ar spring is a 7.5.
i think the optional 6.5 spring may be for lighter riders. possibly less than 9 stone.
if the standard 7.5 spring was too soft to give the correct sag, then a stiffer spring is the obvious option.

Ahh the EGS, did you buy the one that was on ebay a few weeks back, it was for sale in scotland somewhere if i rememeber. If it wasnt so far away i would of deffo bought it, was mint!

Yes it was in inverness, 4 hours north of me, so pretty far from any of you guys in england.
The drive was definetly worth it.
The bike is mint. The guy was the origional owner, and had done around 1000 miles, mostly on the road.
It has the origional front tyre on it!
Its certainly not new any more - ive done 3000 k so far, and spent around £1500 on making it more suitable to race.
mods so far
105 n/m shock spring
5.0 n/mm fork springs
black bodywork, ktm decals and yellow number boards (for clubman class enduros)
sump gaurd
hand gaurds
flywheel weight
grips lockwired
grip donuts
larger pegs - (buzzeti 55 x 90 mm)
fork socks
shock sock
brake pads
v rorce 3 reed block (very much recomended)
42 t rear sprocket
clutch saver
12 different main jets
7 different needles
6 different pilot jets
3 different throttle slides ((£130 each!)
new piston
thinner base gasket
air filter
irridium plug
repack silencer
the compression is now 220 psi, and its very very fast! Suspension is still a little on the soft side, but much better than CRM.
It is not as good on the road as the CRM, and the finish is falling apart very very quickly. Parts fall off regularly.
I cant wait to race it!
