Welcome to the site. If yours is a 1999, it should be an AR. There's some useful info here on how to tell: http://www.crm250.com/history.asp
Re: hey everyone - newbie - 1st crm -)
hey alan ... on the bike swingarms it just says 250R ... on the left side of the engine block is a rectangular metal casing with 2 cables going into the top of it (looks like the powervalve on my dt125) ...
other than that it doesnt say AR ... only R on the swingarms ... so is this a bike that was imported from a country other than japan?
im kinda curious as to exactly what model it is. what other clues might there be as to which model it actually is?
thx for the reply btw! -)

If you use the link in Alan's post you should be able to tell.
Some importers registered models with later dates of manufacture than in acuality.

hey knackered & alan ... iv used that link and seen the different models of cmr250 mk I, II, III and AR
but ... theres no mention of the crm250R ... from the few bits of info iv got, it looks like it was sold in france anyways ... prob other countries as well ...
thats the bike i think i have ... either that or its a mk III.
anyone know how to tell the difference by looking at the bike as to whether its a mkIII or an AR
cheers guys.

All CRM 250s are CRM250R** except ARs.
See - viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5282
Only CRM125s were sold officially in France. There are very few CRM250s. The only official sales of CRM250s were in Japan and a few later models (mostly ARs) in Australia.

Quickest ways to tell...
AR chassis numbers and engine numbers will have "MD32" in them.
AR Engine side cases were originally gold.
If it says AR on the exhaust valve cover and the cover is pretty much like a square with the bottom left corner slightly trimmed, it's an AR. If the cover is wider than it is tall, it's not an AR.
From the info given, yours sounds like a Mk3 that's been incorrectly registered as manufactured 1999. If it was manufactured in 1999, it will be an AR as that was the last year they were made.

until your a Site Supporter you can't upload pics direct. Upload pics into photobucket or similar and then link them here using the Img tags.

Re: hey everyone - newbie - 1st crm -)
on when down (at least on my AR it is!) there should be a little arrow next to it and you really should be able to tell once its warmed up as it wont idle with the choke on - with CRM's the general rule is to get the choke off asap and hold a little throttle on if necessary till it idles on its own.db ice3 wrote:heres the linky tp pic of my crm then ....
