my AR is spluttering - electrical related?

Post by db ice3 » 15 May 2010, 13:38

hey ... iv chkd the faq's but not seen the same issues as this:-

from cold, AR starts 1st kick, but tick over is bit rough and revs rise and fall a bit constantly if left ticking over but doesnt stall. (choke switched off almost immediatley after starting)

on moving off and for next 10 mins of riding, the bike splutters badly ... (almost like the way when its got needing a good revving to clear out built up oil from low speed town riding) ... revs wont rise much but good pull up to the spluttering starting ...

then after about 10 mins of riding like this, it just clears and is smooth as silk.
(it just the same if i been riding for a while say to shops an its been swtitched off for a bit, still warm and re started - 1st 10 mins is rough, then it clears)

something i noticed though - and im wondering if there is a link. whilst its spluttering the head and tail light flicker and are dim. when it smooths out, the lights come on full brightness and no flickering. - electrical prob?

Mate i made of vid of mine just so u can compare, My revs rise and fall at idle aswell when its warm, ive been told its something to do with the fuelling at tickover is very low on the AR's, When i first had mine i was lurching about all over the place, half was down to the dirty carb and more so how i was riding, i try to keep mine pulling all the time just like any higher cc 2 stroke. It doesnt like steady throttle unless ur at 32 mph in 4th gear, i can sit at that speed al day its weird. Must just be where the fueling is ideal i guess :s

Video of cold start then short ride, Bike was started about 24 hours before this:

omg delvey - yrs is a smooth as a turbine ... i dont hav a helmet cam but i can strap my digi cam to the bike tmrw an take a vid so u can hear what mine sounds like - but i can tell ya now - ull kill yrselves laffin at the sound of mine for the 1st 10 mins of riding - and its not dependant on whether the bike is hot or cold - its about 10 mins from start of riding that it clears up and then sounds like yours.

mine almost sounds like it wants revving hard to clear it out - but that doesnt help it ... its about the passing of 10 mins that clears it up

and the lights also stop flickering as soon as it runs smooth as well!. ( im suspecting electrical prob - affecting either ignition/coil/ generator/power valve )
