Exhaust Gasket Mk2

Post by JJD » 29 May 2010, 12:52

I just received one from leisure trail, and l can see that it is ally, and gets compress to make a seal.

Question is, is it worth putting some sort of sealant (not sure what???) around it to make sure, so it is not a lottery in getting a good seal?

TIA

It would have to a paste type, and they do dry out, on balance just use the gasket, but pull it up evenly.
PS, I always use a couple of Brass, manifold nuts, and 2 per stud, these wont rust, and with 2 on there the stud is mostly covered as well.

Good idea re the extra nuts, fitted the gasket today, no leaks, now it ticks over correctly. Job Done.
