Hello all,

I haven't actually got a CRM YET. But hopefully in the next couple of months I will have. I thought it would be best to join the forum to get to know the bike a bit before buying so I know what to look out for.

At the moment my only bike is a Kawasaki GPZ 500 and I ride all year round, currently this year I've done about 9,000-10,000 miles so as you can tell I do like to ride :D I've been doing trial riding for quite a few years however this year I haven't rode it at all. Both the motorbike and push bike kind. I had a go on my half brothers KTM 400EXC round an enduro track and really enjoyed it and then a couple of months later tried his CRM a couple miles down the road. It was pretty wierd as I've only ever ridden road bikes on the road so it was like I was on top of a mountain looking over little cars haha.

I'm pretty set on getting myself a CRM as I have heard how good they are, I may even end up commuting on it in the winter months to save my precious fairing. That's pretty much it, I live about 20 miles from coventry and again 20 miles from northampton in a tiny village just outside rugby.

For info on CRMs have a look at the FAQ thread in the Owners Area - you will find all the basic info there which will highlight what to look for when buying. Otherwise use the search facility and then if you cant find what you are looking for just ask! We are a helpful bunch with a lot of knowledge between us and we like to share it!

Haha No way! I live in barby! I've been here for nearly 17 years now. How long ago was it?

Ahh ok. Castle mound is right across the road, I live at ware orchard, one of the houses at the top. I bet barby has hardly changed since you have been here.

As small kids we used to play hide and seek in the summer holidays in the long grass between the bottom of Castle Mound and Ware orchard and Dobbin to the lamp post in the middle of the 'dog bone' (shape of the road). Used to be 20-30 youngsters running around all together.

Don't think this happens any more . Too many cars - driven & parked.

Used to explode 'bombs' in the middle of the road and get the neighbours opening the doors to find out what was going on....... Go karts made of pram wheels ......

Run around the old moated/fortified manor house fields.

Aah those were the days ...................

That long grass between the two roads is called the green now, was it back then? (I know there is actually a road called the green at the top of pittoms lane). But that patch of grass is now well kept, it's got about 10 trees around the outside, 2 benches, a dog poo bin and a normal bin. Oh and remember those garages down the end, they were knocked down about 5 years ago. There's only ever 5-10 youngsters running around down there now.

Haha if a 'bomb' was exploded these days you'd get the police coming round and giving you an ASBO!

What's the manor house fields? Where about's is that?

Have you been in the fields round the back of Castle Mound

There is a mound with an old moat around it in amongst ridge and furrow fields. Remains of a Medieval fortified manor house. We used to have dens, treehouses, bonfires, collect mushrooms, blackberries, frog spawn, fossils (when they put drainage in), dig for old bottles in the Victorian dump .... around these fields. You can't see much of the topography from the sattelite image but the mound is very clear:

More housing to the W & E than there used to be though Ashleigh close was built when I was there. (Over the old sewer works).

No I haven't actually been there because your not allowed. I've had a quick glimpse but it was a very quick glimpse.

I see where the old moat was, you can see the dip in the ground from the google maps. Sounds like you had great fun doing all of things that you're supposed to while your a kid. Although now, you can't have that as much.

There's so many historic things in a little village that I didn't realize. I never knew there was a sewer works at alsleigh close!

Half way up daventry road, there is a recent close called balding close. Only had a few houses on but they're very nice.

Unfortunately the CRM is going to take a bit longer to arrive in my possession and be ready for the road (mainly insurance). I rang my insurance company up to get a quote on adding another bike to my policy. I'm not allowed to have a multi bike policy so I would have to get a separate policy. But you can only use your no claims discount on one of them so the quote came back at £391! I'll be comparing different companies but the reason why I went to them (MCE) for my GPZ500 was because they were the cheapest I could find so I don't have my hopes up very high.

i have a multi bike policy via mce. i had to change companies with them to do so,but in the end it only cost me £68 to get the crm added and at fully comp........mind you i'm knocking on a bit.lol.as if.

My insurance was £65 with zero NCB via a price comparison site - yours seems a bit steep. BB.

Try "bikeinsurer" I was getting quoted around £200 for a 600 diversion then tried these and got quoted £82. Changed it to the crm 250 and was quoted £86 TPFT with 0 no claims.

Yeah sorry guys I forgot to mention the fact I'm 18 :P So the reason I couldn't get multi bike policy was probably because of my age.

And that's the reason why it's so expensive. Although compared to my friends paying anywhere from £1000-3000 in there cars! It's cheap haha
