New to the CRM

Post by Kefa39 » 15 Sep 2010, 21:58

Hello all,
I bought myself a tatty mk2 CRM a couple of months ago and managed to get it road legal last Saturday.
Thanks to the advice from this site I managed to fix the brakes, speedo, fork seals and rear suspension linkage.
Took it trailriding with the TRF on Sunday and it performed great.A lot lighter than the DRZ I normally ride.
The only downside with the bike is the colour. The graphics and seat are a kind of pink and look like they were designed for a barbie bike.Everyone on the ride took the micky but they all wanted to have a go on it.
Thanks again for sharing all this knowledge on the CRM.

:D Hi welcome to the forum, pink eh, you say, well, for future reference, and out of deference to those whose plastics have also slightly faded  we tend to refer to the colour as ATOMIC RED :D ,in fact, it has been known for some fellow forumites to colour co-ordinate other parts of their mounts to the same colour as it's so appealing.
The best bet is a plain white set of replacement plastics as the ,inevitable, spills take there toll on the current set.
Glad you are pleased with your purchase.
You may want to check for movement of the swinging arm shaft, and bearings, this is an area that suffers from past negligent owners.
Check the search area for information on this topic and any others, before posting,up any questions.

Isn't that the proper name for the Mugen plastics? Atomic Flo red or something?

:D Jet washing normally removes the paint, just don't go for a steam clean
PS, better make sure the plonker didn't use knotting on the air filter.
You may also want to check he hasn't been running it on Meths

looks like the paint was the only moment of madness

full DEP exhaust

twin air filter

swing arm bolt and suspension linkage bolts all greased (removed and regreased)

gearbox oil quite clean (replaced with new )

2 stroke drained and replaced with putoline tts

next step a fresh set of tyres front about dead back useless in the mud any recomendations ?
