Re: stator problem
The coil is AR specific but I'm sure there is a way of testing them. West Country Windings would certainly be able to rewind them if there is a problem.
Part no. for pulse generators is 3033ha0033. Price is £19.06 ex VAT. All CRM250s use these so perhaps someone has some spares to swap for testing purposes

Re: stator problem
Hello all
Thanks to everyone for their help so far,but i need your thoughts and wisdom again. i took a day off work and got a friend to come and help with the non starting and to cut a long story short after bridging the clutch switch and turning over by hand it sparked for the first time in weeks. Boy was I happy until this weekend, saturday morning starts great, ride about 15 miles to the meeting point and turn it off. 10 - 20 min later start her up all good then all the way from Herts to Hunstanton and back bump start (easily) every time. Am I fed up now !posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=6845#
Anyhow so far I have replaced the rotor (thanks, you know who you are)fitted new clutch switch and bridged the ignition switch as this was giving odd readings when we put a meter across it. It just won't start with a kick only with a bump.
I don't want to get rid as I have had her 11 years today (just looked that up)
Please help I don't want to go orange or blue yet posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=6845#

Re: stator problem
Could the lack of starting be unrelated to the electrical problem but be low compression
.

Re: stator problem
don't think so as I have been cranking it by hand with the plug out and shorting to the engine and there is no spark, also the poor sods who pushed me all weekend said there was loads of compression.
Cheers

Re: stator problem
If you get anything over 150 psi, you're problems probably lie elsewhere.
Cold engine
Fuel off.
ps, has the pilot jet had a good clean? and is the choke circuit working?

I can't remember the last time I cleaned the carb, will check compression tomorrow.
Thanks again

Re: stator problem
Hi
I work for a Honda main dealer cars & bikes , "can I borrow a compression tester please ? sorry we don't have one". Oh well I managed to borrow one from one of our panel beaters.
Fuel off , throttle wide open , kick about ten times , repeat ten times average is 144.5 psi .
What do you think it will cost me for rings and gasket set ?
It bothers me that there is no spark at the plug at all when cranking by hand.
Cheers

I'm lead to think that you probably have some wiring issues, specifically, some bad connections in the ignition circuit,
If pushing the bike induces a spark, but hand cranking not so.
Can you meter the H.T. cap when hand cranking to confirm no spark is present?

Re: stator problem
Have a good look at the cylinder lining. It is quite likely that a rebore is best.
