Another Newbie
Another Newbie
Not long purchased my MK2, been following a few threads on here, excellent advice.
My MK2 is white with red decals and seat, but with blue forks and what seems like an aftermarket shiney front wheel, so I'm guessing it may of been 'front ended' at sometime. The previous owner had a new piston and rebore after it seized and then he only used it once before parking it for 4 years!
The oil feed pipe from the oil pump was leaking, which probably caused the piston issues.
I've since removed the balance shaft to inspect, and now have got a new one and bearing from LT, along with a new water pump shaft, impeller, bearing and seal, as the orginal was coroded and the impeller was sheared from the shaft....maybe also a cause of the seizure.
On the bright side I decided to charck the swing arm bolt after reading the horror stories on here, and result, it's free and comes out!!
Also it has a full Mugen system on it, sounds brilliant!!
I'm in Chatteris in Cambs, and will be looking to go green laning later in the year, so any offers of a trip out will be most welcome, I'll post some pics when I get round to it.

Re: Another Newbie
that's interesting, I have seen many pictures of MK2s with gold forks with red & white colour schemes, and the blue forks on the blue and white colour scheme, hence my assumption mine had been front-ended, but if they all have blue forks then that's a bonus as it makes mine more original than I thought!! :-)
Re: Another Newbie
I think the blue forks were on the mark 2.2 model

Re: Another Newbie
Ah, so my thoughts were correct, I'm guessing someone at somepoint replaced the front forks, I'm presuming from a crash as the frot wheel has an aftermarket rim. Oh well poo happens

Re: Another Newbie
No. The 'blue' Mk2 and 2.2 both had blue anodised forks whilst the 'red/orange' bikes had 'slightly gold' anodising.
Your bike is almost certainly standard.

Decals arrived from China today, not very good quality at all, in fact I'm very disappointed. Oh well......just put it down to experience :(

Theyre paper thin aint they. At least theyre cheap enough.
They look ok from a distance, especially if you have bad eyes!
If your not happy stick em on ebay (not literally...) you might get a few quid for em

I think I'll keep them, be handy to put on the bike if I ever sell it.
