cheap Motard

Post by madmanreevo » 11 Dec 2004, 22:25

Does any one know of any road wheels that will bolt straight on (if poss) to a crm MK2? This has got to be cheaper than getting a new set of 17\" rims and lacing them to a set of hubs.
 In motard trim I bet the CRM will be pretty awesome around town.
3rd CRM250 MK2, rebuilt incl Braided hoses, powdercoated, one off bronze swingarm bushes, taper head bearings, hard chromed fork, poweredcoated rear spring and rebuilt. custom graphics, also own TL1000s, Aprillia RS250 (300 kit stage 3 tuned), Yamaha RD400c

I've got a Mk2 crm motard, changing the wheels made a big difference, really needs a bigger engine though (CR500? )

guys,

i know that XR400 rims fit my CRM 250AR and that CB250 rims fit the XR400 - theoretically the cb rims should just \"whip in\" im positive that for the CB rims to fin in the XR400 there were different spacers made up.

hope this helps a bit

Well if you think the CRM250 needs more power/a bigger 500cc engine for supermoto road use, then im stuffed! Im just starting to re-build my KMX200, and i want to turn my bike into a motard too! It was fairly nippy before, but im hoping to tune it as well. maybe ill have to start looking into what bigger engines that i might be able to squeeze into the KMX frame. Are there any other 250cc or bigger 2stroke engined bikes that have autolube that i might be able to use? Ive even thought about a 350LC engine, but im not sure if the weight of a twin would ruin the handling of the KMX. Would an RMX250 engine be any good?

Oh Steveo..Ive often dreamed of using the rd205/350lc engine in a crosser/motard..These engines are rapid as anything i know for there engine size..Ive allways thought of using the rds frame in some way aswell though..Pipe dreams really ..these parts dont come cheap. But im shure someone out there has done it ,,i saw a gs1000e engine in a xl600 frame once ,, awsome ,bloody huge bike..i want one

Didn't the TDR yamaha have a LC 250 engine in it? Not much trouble (mechanically) to fit a LC350 engine in one.

Ugly.

PS I alway thought too much is never enough, having ridden a CR500 on a few occasions, I've revised that opinion!

TDR had a TZR250 (2MA or 1KT prefix) motor which was a parallel twin but had crankcase induction (carbs into cases not barrels)
it was a good motor and made 45 - 49 bhp std, the LC or valve motor was bigger in size and actually tougher too.

I wouldnt also mind if i could have a doubled up KMX200 engine, a nice 70bhp 400cc parallel twin would go well i think in a kmx. Im probably just going to stick to the std motor when all is said, but im hoping to get a bit more power out of it, with a few mods and parts from KX/KDX bikes. I dont think there are any other 250cc enduro bikes or bigger than the CRM that have an autolube system? i nearly brought a suzuki RMX250 engine, but afaik it's pre-mix which is no good to me. Maybe i can bore the kmx cylinder out even further to make a 220cc kmx? I wouldnt mind a nice small 4stroke engine, but something like an XT350 unitwould be too heavy/vibey, so it would need to be a small twin or something?

It's been said that the KMX200 head and barrel will fit onto the KMX125 bottom end. Now that would be a beast in a 125 frame. Twin engined one would be crazier. Not sure what parts from KDX etc can be swapped easily accross to the KMX. There's a good german forum on the KMX, i'll see if i can find it.

Also stan stephens web page has the KMX listed, so I think he tunes them up to the spec your after.
