Suffice to say you're more than welcome too, rich.
Have to say though, I wouldn't want to ride too far on a CRM. My arse was not best pleased after two hours in the saddle last night. : - (
In other news I've contacted the local branch of my TRF so hopefully that will bear some fruit. Apparently they meet every second tuesday in the month, at a pub in market weighton not far from here. So I'll have a ride over next week if the weather's not too dire.

Any day, as long as I get a bit of notice. Would much prefer decent weather though. But yeah - I can pretty much do any day if I get a few days warning. ; - )
Please note, though, that I'm a fair way off the A59 - in a village called Seaton Ross. Not sure if that makes it all too inconvenient. Hope not, but thought it worth mentioning.

If it's on the bike then a Saturday is best for me, but off touring Scotland on the Varadero next weekend, then a wedding on the 21st, so last Saturday in June is good for me. Can probably do a week day, but need to book a day off work.

Gonna be a good trek is this one, will need a lower back replacement by the time i get there

Re: Got my CRM today - had to push it 20 miles home : - (
I'll convert the conservatory into a spinal unit and get plenty of Preparation H in.
Was out on the crm all morning - am rapidly learning to spend as much time up on the pegs as possible, knees gripping the tank, etc.

Okay - been out and about a bit more. I am going to try and describe in more detail the bike's symptoms. Some of this is repetition so please excuse stuff I''ve mentioned previously.
It starts easily - both cold and hot. It idles contentedly once warm, and at all times. It sounds well when idling.
So far so good.
What is less good is the way it pulls through the gears. At a certain rev range (I woud guess at around 4k rpm) in second, third and fourth it will pass through a phase where it makes a clattering sound, almost as though the chain is slipping on the front sprocket. Once through this it starts to pull properly again. The engine cannot be 'nursed' through this - i.e. it is not possible to back off the revs slightly, and re-apply the throttle more gradually, nor is it a case of simply being more assertive with the throttle. No matter how careful OR aggressive the throttle is applied, it's like the engine still has to rev through a stage where the clattering noise occurs.
More generally, the engine seems only to want to be revved overly hard.
Also, in top gear, it's permanently 'hunting' - i.e. it does not really want to sit at 45-50-55 -
One other thing - although I haven't been particularly systematic about it, I would guess fuel consumption is 'adequate' for a 2t 250. My estimate is that I'm putting between min of £5 and max of £8 in every 50 miles.
That's the best I can do, I'm afraid. I honestly think if an experienced crm owner could ride / hear the bike they would think oh yeah, this guy's bike really does actually 'clatter', I get why he would say that, blah blah.
Anyway, no worries if nobody can add anything to this thread - I appreciate how difficult it must be to suss out what some random bloke is trying to describe. My intention was simply to have one last go at explaining wtf is going with this bugger. ; - )

The fuel consumption sounds quite high. The clattering could be the powervalve. Perhaps disconnect it and leave it in a fixed position, ignore the difference in the engines output, does the noise diminish?

What gearing are you using? I.E. What size front and rear sprockets do you have?
Re: Got my CRM today - had to push it 20 miles home : - (
the best I got from my AR is 6.5l/100km. With constant speed of 100km/h on motorway. I was expecting much better!
