Crm crank
Crm crank
hi all I'm a newby here but have a crm250 for a few problem free years, I've recently had a major malfunction and after removing barrel etc can see that I have some crankshaft damage, before striping ending to look for any further damage I decided to search for a new crank, on searching eBay etc the only crm crank I could find was over £500, my question is, do I need to pay this amount or is the crank the same as a cr?

Re: Crm crank
What Mk do you have? Can often find them second hand or repair the big and with a new conrod.
CRM cranks are not the same as any CRs. CR engines don't fit into CRM frames.

Hi thanks for reply, I have a mk2, do you know if the cranks are the same for other models? The conrod looks fine, the problem is with the piece of metal that surrounds the crankshaft, the top of it is pretty damaged:(, also do the different engines have the same mountings as I've found someone breaking a mk3, thanks

Re: Crm crank
Mk3 crank will be OK provided you also have all the gears that come from the drive end side of the Mk2 crank and the Mk3 clutch cover. The connection system of the gears onto the crank is different so the 'crank assembly' is slightly longer and the cover has a section cut out. You may find that you need some or all of the gears from the Mk2 crank to match the secondary gears in the Mk2 gearbox but I'm not sure so get all the Mk3 set up.
