HT Ignition Coil ??

Post by smb2200 » 19 Feb 2006, 17:56

Hello,

I pulled the HT lead off the spark plug today to change it and the lead came out of the coil instead :? :(

Anyone know where i can get a new one from, or whether i can use from any bike or is it specific to the CRM ??

A new \"screw\" in HT lead type would be better if available ?

Any help appreciated...

Thank for the reply CRMR :)

Managed to \"fix\" the old one in the end. Carefully removed the \"glued in\" HT lead from the coil, although this took a fair bit of time.
Eventually got the outer ring of insulating material out and then just pulled the rest off of the screw type thread and glue holding it in.

Cleaned it up and bought some new copper HT lead, glued it in for nice watertight seal and a nice shiny new black NGK plug cap and hey presto (touch wood) it works :D :D

Now have a spare Mk2 coil, just in case, was a bargain at £15. Just for everyones info, these are £62 new !!!!

Cheers,

SMB

Just in case you're fix doesnt hold.. Ive used coils from a few different bikes on all the 2 strokes ive owned from ar125's to cr500's and they all woked fine whatever they were fitted to, as CRMR said, a 12v coil is a 12v coil :)
199? CRM250 Mk2 - Shabby but funnnnnn!!
2001 ZX9rE1 - Shiny and smooooth
1994 CBR900 - Plain daft (50 tooth sprocket)
