your petrol is too old , your tank dried out and flakes of rust have blocked the tap filter,/ your carb is sluged up with oil. your carb dried out and the seals have gone hard ,, (wet it up again). Floats jammed .your jets are blocked , your air filter my be in need of a service , Your electrics are damp ,OR ,Your misses stole the bike when you were asleep to meet with her greebo boyfriend in the middle of the night and she let him thrash it till it died , She then calmly parked it back up and went to bed as though nothing ever happened ,,ever smelled pertuna oil on the bed sheets ,,

Thanks for the replys. I'll check the bed for muddy footprints!!
I forgot to mention that it will rev with the choke on and run fairly normaly.
Does this rule out stale petrol?

Maybe u should start by stripping and cleaning the carb and then set it as per the manual.

See how you go from there.

Yipee!! stripped the carb and found the jet just to the front of the main jet (pilot jet?) was completely blocked. poked it through with a bristle from a wire brush and the jobs a good-un !
Thanks for all your help. Now I just need to learn to ride the bugger.
