anyone changed gearbox bearings?

The internal bearing for the output shaft has a grove around the outside edge,the bigger bearing closest to the cog.I never noticed this before i got it out the case ,does anyone know which way it goes in?grove in first?

i think the groove goes on the inside and there should be a little locking plate that screws in to hold it in place, Dont quote my as i havent stripped a crm engine yet but have done various engines before and this is usualy the case, jon

Haven't put mine back together yet - Will investigate. LT will be able to tell you.

The grove should be on the side into the engine and not facing the casing, at least thats the way I did mine.

Ask to speak to Kevin (Stumpy) at LT. He's best for technical info on CRMs but tends not to be in during the week
