Hello!

Post by Jon_Pearson18 »

Thinking of getting my mates CRM 250 mk2 for £600, Its in good condition, its been stood for about a year now. Whats the power like on a crm? Ive got a Hornet 600 at the moment wich i ment sell to get the CRM cause i cant be bothered waiting 2-3 months to save up and either can the seller, Will i be a bit disapointed in the power compared to a cr250? My mate has a 03 cr250 wich is a hand full on the field. I know it wont be as powerfull as a cr250. Plus im used to like 85hp n 40 odd torque on my hornet.

if you like doing wheeles and the sound of the two stroke exhaust screeming through every gear,
also its light , high up in traffic, fast up to 90 mph , never get a flat battery ( not got one ) a very good boys toy,

bad bits,
long distances not good ( over 15 miles you will find this out )
mpg if thrashed , empty tank in 60 miles ( small tank )
two up , not fun
need to keep it well maintained.

BUT IF YOU WANT IT AS A GOOD FUN BLASTER FOR WHEN EVER YOU WANT A FEW HOURS OUT OR FOR ENDURO / GREEN LANING / OFF ROAD ect, THEY ARE THE BEST FUN YOU CAN GET FOR THE MONEY,

Two up is never fun, I used to do it on my dt, I used to weigh 15stone when i had my dt and so did my mate! still got 70mph on the dual carrage way somehow. Fuel aint a problem, i get 80miles to a 17litre tank on my hornet when thrashed!! If i can get the CRM an get my hornet wich i can, Ill be usin the CRM for goin on the local mx track and probly taking it to green lanes and stuff cause my hornet is very reliable so that can be my Horse an the CRM can be the play toy. Ill be changing the piston probly every 5k miles, be ran off Silkolene Comp 2 plus wich i used for my Rs50 and DT125 and never had a problem with either.

Having used both, a CRM is very little like a CR to ride other than riding position. CR's are a handful and you generally need to give them a constant wedge of throttle to keep them running smoothly, a CRM is alot tamer and easier to ride. If you wanted to make it a bit more of a beast I'm sure there are people on here who can tell you how to tune it up a bit.

I did my first off road riding on a CRM mk2 which seemed easy before moving to a CR250 which was a totally different experience to control, but a fun one till I broke my collar bone :D
