Top end power issue
Top end power issue
Hey Guys,
Haven't ridden my buik for a while (MK2.2) and when comparing it to my DRZ400SM which i have aquired the top end is a joke for a 2 stroke. It has more bottom end then top end...
The problem is it gets to about the mid rage then just feels like its chokes and the engine is not entering its powerband...you rekon it could be the powervalve? Or is it something else.
Keep in mind this engine has about 18000kms on it and no known rebuilds.
Could it just be the top end needs refreshing?
Cheers and Merry Xmas!

Re: Top end power issue
Check that your power valve is operating ok.
A friend of mine was helping me put the engine back in the frame after a rebuild.
when I took it up the road I had the same symptoms as you describe.
I checked the power valve and found he had fitted the bracket that the cables attach to upside down.
Swapped this over and it solved the problem.
