Newbie Welsh boy living in Thailand - MK2 rebuild

Post by flash »

Hi all - have been kiving in Thailand for over 3 years now and am currrently doing a rebuild of my MK2. It's a real nightmare getting any parts out here for it so is taking some time. The biggest problem with the bike is that the final drive shaft (think thats the name for it) is shagged and the gear selector shaft is bent. I have just heard news that someone is selling another engine here but cant get to it at moment due to floods!!
I have had the frame, exhaust and various other parts chromed and have polished other parts - I plan on powder coating the engine as soon as I can secure the parts i need - I am expecting this to be a long drawn out job due to sourcing the parts.
I will post some current photos soon (any advice on how to do?) and maybe start a thread on "rebuilds" section.
Take care all and hope to speak soon

Hi
here is a link to help with the rebuild.

http://www.offwidth.co.uk/bike/crm_rebuild/index.php

There is a link to the AR factory manual somewhere as well.

If you have a search on the forum there are a couple of others from Thailand and Cambodia posting on the forum and they may be able to help you locate parts.

Spent a year in Bangkok myself mid 90's. Hope you are learning the lingo as it really opens up what is happening around you. They don;t expect the Farang to answer them in Thai. Where abouts are you living?

Front wheel polished and painted - wet and dry from 240 grit through to 2000 grit - cutting paste and polish - took about a day to do - no skin left on fingers - fair result i feel!!

Now onto the back wheel so will then have rolling chassis
