LT power valve cables

Hello all, I've bought Leisure Trail power valve cables. It's regarding the cable with adjuster nut, not with a spring. My bike is Mk3. Cable is aftermarket, not Honda. I installed it and tried to adjust it, but it seems cable is too long and I couldn't adjust it to take up the slack. So ended up fitting the old one. Anyone 's aware about it?
